Ah, but where to start?  I’ve got some great news: There is plenty going on in Seattle in the spring. Here’s a look at just 15 of the events and activities that will be going on in our area soon. It’s probably a safe bet to say that Seattle has something for everybody!

Below you’ll find just a smattering of the events that are coming up in April alone! It’s really a wonderful mash-up of a wide variety of activities. Some are right in your neighborhood and others are a short drive away. Many of these events are FREE! Springtime is a great time to explore all the fun things to do in the Seattle area. Here are a few ideas to get you started!

 

Fringe Theater festival

April 1, 2017 (begins March 23)

See unpredictable and uncensored plays and shows in small Capitol Hill theaters and the basement of the Armory at Seattle Center during Seattle Fringe Festival.

 

Tulip Festival

April 1 - 30, 2017

Skagit Valley Tulip Festival features spectacular fields of blooming tulips and daffodils (field map). The free Tulip Festival Street Fair is in Mt. Vernon.

 

Wine & Chocolate in Tacoma

April 7 - 8, 2017 (4 to 9 p.m.)

Taste wine and chocolate from 70 vendors, and see vintage cars at LeMay Wine & Chocolate Affair at Marymount Event Center for age 21+.

 

Blues Music in Tacoma

April 8, 2017

The Gray Sky Blues Music Festival begins after the Daffodil Parade at multiple Tacoma venues.

 

Daffodil Parade

April 8, 2017

The free Daffodil Parade includes daffodil-covered floats, marching bands, clowns, and pirates that travel through Tacoma, Puyallup, Sumner, and Orting. It’s the highlight of the Daffodil Festival.

 

International Children’s Festival

April 15 - 16, 2017

Children from around the world dance, sing, play music, make origami, and get faces painted at the International Children’s Friendship Festival at Seattle Center in Fisher Pavilion. Free.

April 16, 2017

Cherry Blossom Festival

April 21 - 23, 2017

The Cherry Blossom & Japanese Cultural Festival celebrates Seattle’s friendship with Japan and Japan’s gift of 1000 cherry trees in 1976. Enjoy Japanese art, dance, music, and food at Seattle Center.

 

Apple Blossom Festival

April 27 - May 7, 2017

The Washington State Apple Blossom Festival in sunny Wenatchee offers apple pie, arts and crafts, golf, a car show, carnival, parade, and run.

 

Olympia Arts Weekend

April 28 - 29, 2017

Admire art Friday evening and Saturday at Arts Walk. Join a luminary procession Friday at 9:30 p.m. Watch people parade as animals in the Procession of the Species Saturday at 4:30 p.m. Free.

 

World Rhythm Festival

April 28 - 30, 2017

Immerse yourself in more than 100 drum and dance workshops and performances at the World Rhythm Festival at Seattle Center. Free.

 

Bacon and Beer

April 29, 2017 (1 to 10 p.m.)

Adults enjoy craft beer, bacon-inspired tastes from local restaurants, live music, dancing, and interactive games at Bacon and Beer Classic at Safeco Field.

 

Green Home Tour

April 29 - 30, 2017

Register online for the self-guided Northwest Green Home Tour to see solar-powered, energy-efficient, and sustainably built homes. Locations include Seattle, Shoreline, Bothell, and Carnation. Free.

 

Tacoma Marathon

April 30, 2017

Tacoma City Marathon is one of the area’s best and includes running across the Tacoma Narrows Bridge, or run the marathon relay, half marathon, or 5K.

 

Pig feast

April 30, 2017 (5 p.m.)

Cochon 555 is a culinary competition that features a stand-up tasting of dozens of chef-prepared dishes paired with wine, beer, and spirits at the Fairmont Olympic Hotel for $125.
